Verizon Wireless And Photobucket Launch Instant Mobile Photo Uploading

Web’s Leading Standalone Photo Site Makes Photo Sharing Fast and Easy For Verizon Wireless Customers

BASKING RIDGE, NJ & SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Verizon Wireless, the nation’s leading wireless provider, and Photobucket (http://photobucket.com), the Web’s premier standalone photo and video-sharing site, today announced the availability of a new mobile photo service on select Verizon Wireless handsets that enables Verizon Wireless customers to easily send photos from a mobile device to a Photobucket album. The application will launch exclusively for Verizon Wireless customers and is available for download from Verizon Wireless mobile storefront by texting ‘photob’ to 2777, in the Community and Sharing category of the Verizon Wireless Get It Now catalog or by visiting photobucket.com/mobile.

Jennifer Byrne, director of digital media at Verizon, said, “Mobile phones are adding a new dimension to sharing images between friends, colleagues or family members. Photobucket is bringing Verizon Wireless customers a new and easy way to share their photos and videos in real-time, without needing to move to a PC to upload and send them.”

“Photobucket is thrilled to team up with Verizon Wireless to provide a quick and easy photo sharing solution for people on the go,” said Alex Welch, President of Photobucket. “Photobucket has always been committed to making photo sharing fun and easy. The Photobucket Mobile Uploader for Verizon Wireless unlocks the full potential of camera phone photos, allowing users to easily save and share images online more easily than they would using traditional digital cameras.”

To utilize the application, Verizon Wireless subscribers sign up for a Photobucket account – which can be created for free at http://photobucket.com – and enter their log-in information to link their Verizon Wireless account to their Photobucket online photo album. Once the accounts are connected, the application instantly uploads photos already saved on the phone to the user’s Photobucket account. The Photobucket Mobile Uploader then automatically sends any future photos directly to the same Photobucket account.

Verizon is the first carrier in the United States to be offering the Photobucket Mobile Uploader and the application will be available initially on 13 handsets. The service is available now from Verizon Wireless, which enables the user to send unlimited mobile photos to their Photobucket account for a monthly subscription fee of $2.99.

Verizon Wireless First To Bring Downloads From New Beyoncé Album To Fans

Exclusive Mobile Content from Entire Album “I AM… SASHA FIERCE” Including Full-Track Downloads Available on V CAST Music

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless, a leader in mobile music, is teaming with music icon Beyoncé to bring Verizon Wireless customers exclusive content from her new album “I AM… SASHA FIERCE” days before its Nov. 18 release date.

Beginning this week, fans who want to hear new music from one of the world’s top performers can do so using V CAST Music and VZW Tones on their Verizon Wireless phones. On Friday, Nov. 14, Verizon Wireless customers will be able to download and purchase select full tracks including: “Halo,” “Satellites,” “Broken-Hearted Girl,” “Ave Maria,” “Sweet Dreams,” “Video Phone” and the current single, “If I Were A Boy.” Today, Verizon Wireless customers can download and purchase as ringtones or ringback tones all those songs plus, “Disappear,” “Radio,” “Diva” as well as Beyoncé’s current single, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” all before the album drops next week.

Beyoncé said, “I am happy to have my music available to my fans exclusively on V CAST through Verizon. There are songs here that are so special to me and really tell the story of my life and songs that are just about fun, dancing and celebrating.”

For the first time, Verizon Wireless will have an artist “take over” the V CAST Music handset store. Beyoncé will select her favorite albums, songs, playlists and other material to be featured exclusively on the V CAST Music mobile storefront from Nov. 14 – Nov. 18, giving fans and interested music lovers a chance to see and sample music made by and recommended by one of today’s top performers.</p.

“Music World/Columbia Records is excited to partner with Verizon to help launch a truly amazing album from Beyoncé,” said Glenn Frese, SVP of Digital Marketing and Business Development for Columbia. “This very unique campaign is befitting of an artist of Beyoncé’s stature, giving fans a special opportunity to preview the new album as well as providing her an opportunity to highlight music from additional artists that she has chosen to call out to her fans.”

Verizon will also send a video MMS message with a personalized message from Beyoncé directly to select subscribers, enabling them to be the first to download and purchase ringtones, ringback tones and full songs from her entire album. Fans can also text “BEYONCE” to 8901 to download the exclusive titles directly to their mobile phones.

“V CAST Music has quickly become the place to go for new music, and we’re thrilled to be giving Beyoncé’s fans a chance to hear and download songs from her new album before it is widely-available,” said Ed Ruth, director of music for Verizon. “Making music available on mobile phones lets consumers listen, sample and enjoy music from their favorite artists wherever and whenever they want.”

Santa Clara, CA – BlackBerry Developer Conference – Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced plans to introduce powerful new tools and technologies for web application developers to build highly-responsive, interactive, standalone web applications on BlackBerry® smartphones. The new tools and technologies will include a new plug-in for Eclipse developers and new features for the BlackBerry® Plug-in for Microsoft® Visual Studio® that support web development capabilities; as well as support for Gears, enabling web applications to run as standalone applications on BlackBerry smartphones.

“As the BlackBerry Browser evolves to provide customers with a richer, more desktop-like experience, we are introducing powerful new web development tools and technologies to help developers create a more robust and optimal web experience for BlackBerry smartphone users,” said Alan Brenner, Senior Vice President, BlackBerry Platform at Research In Motion. “Supporting web technologies and services is part of our ongoing commitment to providing best-in-class tools and services for mobile application development on the BlackBerry platform.”

New Developer Tools for Web Development, planned for availability in 2009, include a new plug-in for Eclipse developers and new features for the BlackBerry Plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio that support web development capabilities, enabling developers to create rich, dynamic BlackBerry applications that leverage the push capabilities, security and efficiency of the BlackBerry® platform. Developers will be able to build applications using HTML, JavaScript and XML that get packaged and executed as native Java applications on BlackBerry smartphones.

Gears Support, planned for availability in 2009, will enable developers to create highly-responsive, standalone web applications on BlackBerry smartphones that can be used both in and out of network coverage. Support for Gears will include local cache, database and multi-threaded JavaScript execution, which allows web application functions to run in the background.

RIM also separately announced the availability of BlackBerry Web Signals today, which leverages BlackBerry push APIs to enable content providers to push relevant and timely alerts to BlackBerry® smartphone users based on a customer’s opt-in preferences.

New online distribution channels to benefit consumers, carriers and developers as market for BlackBerry applications continues to grow
Santa Clara, CA – BlackBerry Developer Conference – Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced two major distribution initiatives for BlackBerry® smartphone applications at the BlackBerry Developer Conference. A new online application storefront and a new on-device application center will help application developers and carriers reach millions of BlackBerry® smartphone users worldwide and will provide consumers with greater choice, enhanced application discovery and an easy method for managing installation, upgrades, and purchases.
RIM plans to launch the application storefront in March 2009 and BlackBerry application developers can begin submitting their applications and content for inclusion in the storefront in December 2008. The storefront will allow developers to set their own prices for applications and developers will retain 80 percent of the revenue generated from their applications. RIM is working with PayPal, a leading global online payment service, to provide consumers with a convenient and trusted way to pay for applications within the new application storefront, right from their BlackBerry smartphone. Organizations that have deployed BlackBerry® Enterprise Server or BlackBerry® Professional Software will retain control of what applications can be downloaded to BlackBerry smartphones within their corporate deployments.
RIM is also working with its carrier partners to provide carrier-customized, on-device application centers to help foster after-market application downloads. The BlackBerry application center will allow each carrier to offer a convenient catalog right on the device where a customer can discover and download applications. RIM has already worked with carriers successfully to provide this type of on-device distribution system for individual software applications, such as the popular Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones application. The new BlackBerry application center will allow a carrier to build on that success with a broader catalog and provide customers with a convenient and easy method to purchase and download applications.
“The BlackBerry platform enjoys strong roots in the enterprise market and we continue to invest for growth and success with our enterprise channel partners, but the introduction of more consumer-friendly features in BlackBerry smartphones has clearly helped generate a groundswell of interest with new developers that has already resulted in the introduction of thousands of consumer and lifestyle oriented applications for BlackBerry smartphones,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. “The new BlackBerry application storefront and BlackBerry application centers will further support the growing BlackBerry ecosystem and help bridge consumers with developers and carriers as more and more innovative and interesting applications arrive.”
RIM is already working with carrier partners on plans to roll out the BlackBerry application center on future BlackBerry smartphones. For more information on the BlackBerry application storefront, interested developers should visit www.blackberry.com/storefrontinfo and sign up to receive periodic updates.

SAN DIEGO — Oct 13, 2008 Trapster went live on the iPhone App Store, marking another significant extension of a powerful and useful mobile application that already runs on a wide variety of mobile phones, plus navigation devices such as Dash and Garmin. In just four days, this new version is running on more than 22,000 iPhones.

There is also a new version of Trapster for BlackBerry and J2ME devices that can be downloaded at http://www.trapster.com. Trapster is provided at no cost.
Trapster is the first and only real-time speed trap sharing system, the modern day equivalent of flashing headlights at other drivers. Trap reports are updated instantly so users can share where police traps actually are, not just where they might be. It takes advantage of user input and the power of the community to provide not only the trap information, but also to arbitrate the veracity of that information. Trapster is now over 100,000 users, with more than 50,000 traps, speed camera, and red-light camera alerts in the system.

“This is what a location-based application is supposed to look like,” said Trapster President Pete Tenereillo. “Our users have been providing feedback about how we can make Trapster easier to use right from the phone, and for the first time built-in, real-time GPS capabilities in the iPhone and BlackBerry make Trapster functionality one touch away.”

Both the iPhone and BlackBerry/J2ME applications use Trapster’s new Virtual Radar™ technology, which automatically follows the user’s position on a map, and provides an animated visual representation of traps as the user approaches them along with corresponding audio alerts.

Before, user contributions were one way (people entering new traps). But success depends on consistent, accurate data. Now you can rate others’ traps on the spot or as soon as you get out of the car. Traps that are down-rated are removed from the system.

Trapster also has a new private messaging system to allow users to communicate about the traps they report, and Trusted Groups feature that allows car clubs or other organizations to create private speed trap sharing communities.

Users can watch a flash demo of Trapster here: www.trapster.com/presentation.php
